1:48 Spitfire Mk.II by Gary Boggs

After a Spring and Summer hiatus, we're back with some new posts!

We'll get things rolling for September with the aging 1:48 scale Revell Spitfire Mk.II by Gary Boggs. Gary reports that the kit was rough around the edges with numerous fit issues and canopy challenges, but with patience, blood, sweat, and tears (and might I say talent!) he was able to pull off another stunner... although with wings instead of tracks this time!

Gary built the model box stock and painted it with Tamiya acrylics. Finishing and weathering were achieved using MIG Dark Wash and a small amount of MIG Smoke Pigments. The aerial was created using nylon sewing thread.

Stay tuned for a few more from Gary over the coming weeks... and maybe even one from the site author! :)

Royal Flying Corps WWI - Part III

I promised awhile back that I'd take some better photos of my first bust, "Royal Flying Corps WW1" by Model Cellar. Here they are - better late than never! This 1/9 scale bust was completed with Vallejo acrylics and MIG finishing products.

Royal Flying Corps WWI - Part II

Model Cellar's fantastic 1/9th scale bust of a WWI Royal Flying Corps pilot. Originally begun in late December, I have been slow finishing for the Tulsa show June 3rd and 4th. Painted with Vallejo acrylics and MIG finishing products. Photos taken with my iPhone - better photos coming soon!

Royal Flying Corps WWI

I am attempting my first bust - Model Cellar's excellent Royal Flying Corps WWI. I saw this bust just before it's release at the APG show in Gettysburg in July of 2010 - it is a fantastic sculpt. Hope to finish by the end of January.
